Joe and Rita Morgan, both native Tennesseans and graduates of Tennessee Tech, identified with the Auburn church in 1971 shortly after Joe completed requirements for his doctoral degree at Virginia Tech and accepted a faculty position in the Department of Civil Engineering at Auburn University. Joe served for several years as a deacon prior to his appointment as an elder in 1988, and he also serves as a member of the Auburn Christian Foundation Board, the group that owns and operates the facilities of the Auburn Christian Student Center. Over the years, Joe has served Auburn University in a variety of faculty and administrative roles, currently working as Associate Dean of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Rita is retired from the Department of Agronomy and Soils in the College of Agriculture. The Morgan’s son and daughter-in-law, David and Anna, have two children, Emma and Sam, who are “hobbies” for Rita and Joe.
